Summer... and GO!

  • May. 21st, 2008 at 12:55 PM
awesome disney
I'm here in sunny-ish, mostly humid, upper-80s Orlando, FL. Tim brought me to the airport yesterday and I got there a full two hours before my 4:05 flight, only to get through check-in, security and everything by 2:45. Luckily, I had my book (James B Stewart's "Disney War"- what else?) and a coffee, so I read until boarding time. The flight was fine; luckily I was in boarding group A, so I grabbed a window seat and settled in. Also, no one sat in the middle seat, so I didn't feel cramped AND Southwest still serves a complimentary soda and a snack (100 calorie pack of Cheese Nips- yum!), so that combined with my fruit snacks made for an easy trip.

Flight went well, baggage claim took forever, as usual, and I grabbed the shuttle o the off-site rental car place. There was a family of four, two little girls- 2 and 4 years old, I learned, and a mom and dad. The girls were already in matching pink dresses plastered with Disney princesses all over them- and matching backpacks. The parents were discussing the ferry vs. the Monorail to Magic Kingdom and my Cast Member-ness kicked in. I couldn't stop myself from recommending the ferry at night, because there's more room and the view is really pretty. I also explained what the three night shows are at MK, Studios and EPCOT. It was cool and I was feeling pretty easy about the trip.

Then, I paid for the rental car. Since I am under 25, in total it's costing me $384. That's more than double what my flight cost. The advantages are already completely apparent, though. And, I pre-paid a tank of gas (I saved almost 60 cents a gallon), so I can bring back the car on E and they gave to me completely full. If I play my cards right, I'm prety sure I'll only have to buy one tank of gas, because Sarah lives really close to the parks and an get me free parking. I can take the shuttles around each of the parks too, so that's going to save me $50 or $60. Basically, this trip is probably going to break my bank, but it already feels SO good to be back, it's going to be worth it. Alright, now that I've provided you with too many details, I'm off to play!

Hope everyone is having a great summer so far. Much love!!

There's a girl here whose parents both work for Disney (though not high up, of course). I think of you when I talk to her. :)
